Welcome to Morgan Road Standardbreds

At Morgan Road Standardbreds we are always looking at ways to extend the life of racehorses and broodmares and give pleasure to a whole new range of owners. A number of our horses have been retrained as riding horses winning ribbons like TK ORACLE who raced as a 3 & 4yo for a small amount of prize money but was not really mature enough even at that age to be competitive. We gave her to the daughter of client of David Butt’s in Christchurch and she had several years of enjoyment from her. When she found teenage years, sport and boys, TK Oracle returned to us.

A totally different mare arrived home as an 8yo and I so wish she was that well grown as a 4yo as she would have been a force to be reckoned with on the racetrack – it just shows that age is not the relevant thing in racing it is maturity. She has sat in the paddock for a couple of years as a pending broodmare and has become top dog. We had some German Woofers stay with us earlier in the year and although she hadn’t been ridden for 2 years, Lisa (one of the woofers) got up on her back and rode her around our place for 2 weeks.

Next breeding season I will probably send her off to be mated with Attorney General, who is an ideal consult for her bloodlines. TK Oracle’s grand dam was Decorous, a ½ sister to the very good pacer Emcee and from the extensive Southland Bloodlines of the Ceremonial Family. TK Oracle is by the very well credentialed and under rated stallion, Jeremy’s Gambit and she is a dead ringer in looks for her sire although she does have a bit of mum’s dogged temperament.

So TK Oracle has had several adventures in her life – Racing, Shows and Competitions and now being considered as a broodmare to produce the next generation of winners from this family.

TK Speedster, a 14yo Straphanger ½ brother to 2002 NZ 2yo Trotter TK Victor, is now enjoying the life of leisure as a riding horse in the Taranaki district after passing through a number of owners has found her home with Anna Rojuski at Whangamomona.

Fefifofum, a 5yo ½ brother to 2002 NZ 2yo Trotter TK Victor, is now enjoying the life of leisure as a riding horse at Waihi Beach for Lisa Daly.

TK Stellar, a 16yo In The Pocket race placed mare is now enjoying life as a riding horse for Bridget McNaught and family at Mangaweka.
